NBA Partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository

1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
NBA members, their families and friends will be bused from the convention hotel to the Greater Chicago Food Depository ("GCFD") headquarters at 4100 W. Ann Lurie Place on Chicago's southwest side to repack food for distribution to the hundreds of food banks which are supported by the GCFD, especially in neighbors that serve the African American community. Many of these neighborhoods suffer from food deserts.

NBA Partnership with Legal Aid Chicago

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
NBA Members will participate in a Criminal Records Relief Fair to provide legal assistance to the clients of Legal Aid Chicago (LAC) who have been arrested for, charged with or convicted of crimes in Illinois and are in need of a second chance which will help them remove barriers to success. These clients are seeking either expungement, sealing of records or motions to vacate and expunge cannabis convictions. Licensure as an attorney in any State is required. (CLE is available for Illinois attorneys and may be pending in other states.) Representatives from LAC will provide our members with training for the first hour. During the second and third hours, members will prepare the paperwork needed for the individual cases and will speak with the client about their respective file. You will need a lap top or IPad to access the LAC files. If you do not have one and a friend does, you can be teamed up as partners.
The Criminal Records Relief Fair will take place at the Chicago law firm of Clark Hill which is a relatively short walk or quick taxi/Uber from the convention hotel. The firm's address is 130 E. Randolph, Suite 3900, Chicago, IL
