Lakeila R. Stemmons
Interim Executive Director, National Bar Association
Lakeila R. Stemmons, currently serves as the Interim Executive Director of the National Bar Association (NBA). The NBA, founded in 1925, is the oldest and largest national network of Black attorneys, judges, law students and legal professionals.
Ms. Stemmons, a highly sought after attorney and strategist with an accomplished record of developing and executing strategic plans and policy initiatives that advance progressive agendas for her clients, is strategically positioned to spotlight Black attorneys’ role in shaping America’s future–from culture to politics. Her consulting firm, Stemmons Strategies, has worked to increase voting rights, healthcare access and economic development in distressed communities, and collaborative initiatives that advance diversity and inclusion.
Ms. Stemmons previously served as the National Director for Higher Heights for America, the only national organization providing Black women with a political home exclusively dedicated to harnessing their power to expand Black women’s elected representation and voting participation, and advance progressive policies, Stemmons focused on the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans to recruit, train and support Black women running for office and expanding membership and engagement strategy. She also managed strategic partnerships and major campaigns such as #BlackWomenVote and #BlackWomenLead.
In addition to her role with the NBA, Ms. Stemmons continues to serve as a pro bono attorney for the Veterans Pro Bono Consortium. Prior to these roles, she served as executive director of the National Voter Protection Action Fund where she built and maintained relationships with local and federal stakeholders while working to develop and implement strategies to ensure that every vote was protected.
Ms. Stemmons holds a MBA in Finance and received her law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section]
